Ameriprise Financial Principal Accountant in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Principal Accountant to join our team! This role will play a pivotal part in performing the accounting and reporting processes for derivatives for multiple legal entities and ensuring compliance with GAAP, STAT and regulatory requirements. You will provide work direction to Senior Accountant on daily, monthly and quarterly processes and also lead or assist with various enterprise and team projects.

Responsibilities
Prepare moderately complex monthly and quarterly entries related to derivative investments held in multiple legal entities.
Prepare reports on derivative holdings, P&L and related metrics for GAAP, STAT and regulatory submissions.
Assist colleagues in implementation of new accounting projects and standards including development and documentation of procedures and establishment of controls
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5 to 7 years of accounting experience
Strong business knowledge of financial instruments, investments and GAAP and statutory accounting treatment
Proven problem solving skills and ability to lead through change
Ability to handle detailed work; analyze results, yet understand the "big picture"
Preferred Qualifications
Solid understanding of derivative instruments
Strong technical skills including advanced Excel and some Access database knowledge
Strong understanding of the end-to-end process flows, systems, controls and impacts across products and business lines they support.
Experience with WorkDay general ledger accounting system
