Wells Fargo Operational Risk Consultant 5 - Business Continuity Officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

  • Enterprise Finance* drives financial management for the company and maintains and enhances risk and financial controls. Key functions within Enterprise Finance include finance and accounting; Treasury; corporate development, mergers, and acquisitions; Data Management and Insights, the Customer Remediation Center of Excellence, Enterprise Shared Services, Business Process Management, and Corporate Strategy. Enterprise Finance informs shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, team members, and leaders of the company’s financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines. They also maintain and enhance risk and financial controls and lead many of the company’s shared services functions including corporate properties, security, and global services.

The * Business Continuity Officer* will be responsible for supporting the Enterprise Finance BCO team developing and monitoring reporting, and project management. This position will also serve as the Group Incident Response Officer (GIRO) and will combine the need to apply strategic business continuity planning expertise with risk management principles and provide actionable and timely program reporting to business leaders and executive management.

Specific job functions and responsibilities include:

  • Act as primary liaison between Enterprise Incident Management and the business group to include group business continuity implementation officer, control executive, and senior management

  • Consult with Enterprise Incident Management for all life-safety issues within the business group and for all incidents that may require assessment by and activation of the Enterprise Incident Management

  • Assess the business group impact

  • Coordinate and synchronize business group and incident communication to the control executive and senior management through e-mail or automated alerts

  • Observe and examine the risk environment during an incident and report resolution of outstanding risk issues

  • Develop, maintain, define and document monitoring procedures, for quality assurance, reporting, and monitoring to ensure compliance with EBCP policy.

  • Review and analyze monthly reporting to understand and address material deficiencies and weaknesses; inform stakeholders of issues through information sharing, reporting, and escalation

  • Prepare/create various reports from ORS the SOR for BCP, creating pivot tables and analyzing data to present to Business Continuity Officers, Group Business Continuity Implementation Officer and Management teams to assist in risk mitigation from inadequate or failed internal processes, people or systems

  • Review BCP risks and findings produced by Enterprise Business Continuity Planning (EBCP), Wells Fargo Audit Services, or regulatory agencies.

  • Prepare, monitor and distribute monthly/quarterly Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reports and communicate information to BCO peer group related activities within the BCP space to remediate issues, open action items and mitigate risks, risk acceptance reporting and discrepancies, etc.

  • Monitor month-end reports for Risk Appetite thresholds and triggers and report any identified issues or concerns and report findings

  • Communicate effectively the risks, priorities, and action steps necessary to remediate policies and processes

  • The position will be a liaison and work with Business Continuity Officers. The position will report to the Group Business Continuity Implementation Officer.

  • Assist with projects as assigned

This position performs incident management oversight and requires after hours reliability/availability to respond to all severity level of incidents.

Preferred locations are Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis, MN; however may be able to consider other major Wells Fargo hub locations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
