Knowledge Management Manager (#3882)

In this role, you'll be responsible for the creative and strategic direction of the firm’s intranet, ensuring its smooth day-to-day operation. You'll also lead document automation initiatives, working closely with practice groups and administrative teams to boost productivity. As a key member of a collaborative and innovative team, you'll work with team members across departments and practice groups to develop and enhance our essential knowledge-sharing platforms. In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Intranet Management: Oversee day-to-day management of the Firm’s intranet, including prioritization of tasks, content updates, and strategies to maximize usage and engagement.

  • Process Improvement and DMS Optimization: Collaborate with the Director of KM & Innovation to evaluate, improve, and promote the use of the document management system (DMS), leveraging internal knowledge to boost productivity and support strategic decision-making.

  • Document Management and Automation: Lead the implementation and adoption of the Firm’s document templates and automation systems, including managing related training and communication efforts to ensure firmwide usage.

  • Training and Resource Development: Develop and deliver comprehensive training, resources, and tools for the Firm’s intranet and other KM platforms, ensuring effective user adoption and proficiency.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Establish strong relationships with practice groups and their administrative teams to help identify projects that enhance productivity, collaboration, and problem-solving across the Firm.

  • Technology Evaluation and Implementation: Assist with evaluating and rolling out other KM and innovation technologies, as directed by the Director of KM & Innovation, ensuring seamless integration into the Firm’s workflows.

  • May perform other duties not mentioned above.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in a leadership capacity as a primary function.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and resolve issues.

  • Strong leadership skills with diplomacy, and ability to effectively push back when necessary.

  • Understanding of law firm business drivers and how legal teams work.

  • Excellent skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with all levels of firm

personnel including senior management and partners.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience managing intranets or other web-based communication tools, preferably in a large law firm.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, synthesize information, delegate, follow up and monitor projects.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects; ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitivity and discretion, sometimes dealing with difficult management decisions and situations.

  • Strong client service focus and commitment to Dorsey’s values of diversity and inclusion.

  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems/issues; recommend and implement solutions/alternative courses of action.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge management experience.

  • Project management experience.

  • Marketing or communications experience.

  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours in order to meet project schedules.
