The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Agency, Early Education Division is looking for a Kindergarten Fall Assessment (KFA) Specialist to join the division. As the Kindergarten Fall Assessment (KFA) Specialist you will provide support to the Early Education Division and the KFA team through the process of design, development, and implementation, and administration of the Minnesota Kindergarten Fall Assessment (KFA). Monitor the compliance and oversight of vendor deliverables for quality and accuracy. Verify the timeliness of vendor deliverables according to contract terms. Facilitate training and technical assistance that ensures KFA training adheres to best practices for kindergarten-aged children and meets the needs of educational professionals responsible for implementing the KFA. Support Community and Partner Engagement from internal and external partners to help shape, inform, refine, and improve the design and implementation of the KFA. Ensure that feedback from internal and external partners on the KFA is integrated into a continuous improvement feedback cycle.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of experience in

  • Experience using assessment data to positively impact outcomes for young children.

  • Knowledge of best practices in early learning assessment or measurement.

  • Ability to interact in a positive, professional manner with district and school personnel; kindergarten teachers; other educational staff; and families.

  • Analytical skills necessary to come to conclusions and make recommendations based on available information.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details

OR

A master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience with

Three (3) years of professional experience in

  • Experience using assessment data to positively impact outcomes for young children.

  • Knowledge of best practices in early learning assessment or measurement.

  • Ability to interact in a positive, professional manner with district and school personnel; kindergarten teachers; other educational staff; and families.

  • Analytical skills necessary to come to conclusions and make recommendations based on available information.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a program that serves traditionally underserved or vulnerable populations including but not limited to children with disabilities and multilingual learners.

  • Grant compliance or program monitoring experience.

  • Experience with large-scale assessments for young children, which may include item development, item review processes, and training methods and protocols.
