Ascensus Division Vice President, Western Region - Retirement Sales in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Ascensus has an exceptional position for a seasoned sales leader

to drive the distribution of partner and platform retirement plan sales for the Western Region.

Candidate must live within Central or Western Time Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Contribute to the establishment of the annual strategic budget, aligning resources across the organization to achieve top-line revenue objectives.

  • Participate in annual establishment of national and territory goals; communicate and hold RVPs accountable for achievement of goals, inclusive of production and activity-based metrics.

  • Ability to discuss industry trends with all constituents (Advisors, Broker-dealers, DCIO firms, etc.).

  • Represent Ascensus at various industry and thought leadership events.

  • Work closely with colleagues in Product, Operations, Client Management, Marketing and Business Development to guide our solutions and the vision of Ascensus in marketplace.

  • Take lead role on behalf of the sales organization in the ideation, development, vetting and prioritization of new products and services.

  • Leverage mid and large-plan experience to help Ascensus grow capabilities and generate revenue up-market.

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of key competitors with the ability to highlight our unique advantages.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with DCIO, TPA and Broker-dealer firms nationally to promote our solutions to Financial Professionals.

  • Direct and coordinate the sales function on a company-wide basis.

  • Develop and manage the annual sales business plan and strategies in conjunction with the business units and marketing.

  • Develop and manage the sales budget, and participate in the overall corporate strategic budget process.

  • Research and develop strategies that identify sales opportunities, including use of analytical tools (e.g. CRM, Brightscope) to drive informed behaviors.

  • Participate in development of major client accounts, and coordinate the management of all other accounts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned

Supervision

  • Lead and motivate a team of external sales associates (RVPs).

  • Hire, train, coach and mentor new RVPs.

  • Evaluate and provide on-going feedback to RVPs and during the semi-annual performance management process.

  • Travel with RVPs as needed and provide performance feedback

Requirements:

  • 15 + years of experience in the retirement plan industry

  • Prior leadership roles/proven management experience

  • Proven successful sales experience of full service defined contribution recordkeeping and administrative services

  • Over-night travel

  • Superior time management skills

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, unsupervised environment

  • Series 6 and 63 (or the ability to obtain within six months of employment)

  • Location – flexible (if not Philadelphia-based, regularly travel to and spend time in home office)

  • Strong, in-depth ERISA and plan design knowledge

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

The national average salary range for this role is $140,000 - $190,000 in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment.
