Job Description:

Provide strategic and operational leadership in the design and delivery of hardware/software/network technologies (within assigned area of expertise) into the complex technology infrastructure. Role will lead technology delivery for eCommuniations Archive and Supervision and Financial Crimes application suites providing direction to the technology team. Responsible for managing all aspects of delivery including but not limited to people leadership, budgeting/planning, project and BAU direction and strategy. Collaborate with business partners and successfully translate business strategy and objectives into technological capabilities and deliverables. Ensure technology deliverables are flawlessly executed, compliant, validated and align with business/industry standards and objectives. Effectively manage people and financial resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Major Areas of Accountability: People Leadership Strategy Delivery Vendor/Contractor Management Project Management & Prioritization Financial Management Champion Standards & Best Practices Financial Accountability Indirect Expense $500K-5M

  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to a team of highly technical employees. Develop and maintain an organization of high performing people through effective hiring, coaching and rigorous performance/talent management processes. Plan and implement a resource strategy (internal vs. vendor) based on business need, scope of work, cost, and skill requirements. Foster a collaborative, success-oriented team environment where resources are empowered and accountable.

  • Collaborate with technology leadership to understand and translate business strategy into technology strategy. Develop/drive the supporting technology strategy (including a multi-year road map). Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strategy and projects align with architectural objectives and standards. Oversee annual asset health and security assessments and effectively incorporate output into the department strategy. Provide cost and feasibility analytics to support and gain strategy approval.

  • Ensure that technology delivery solutions meet business requirements and expectations regarding cost, schedule and scope. Drive and deliver operational excellence through efficient use of resources/schedules, optimization of service level agreements (SLAs), problem monitoring and resolution, and effective change management techniques.

  • Proactively manage vendor relationships, ensuring high quality work in a cost effective model and effective establishment and management of strong service level agreements (SLAs). Partners closely with vendor partners to ensure all resources both internal/external are of appropriate skill set, Ameriprise preferred methodologies/processes are followed, and output meets quality and industry standards.

  • Strategically plan and prioritize key deliverables within planned project schedules based on enterprise business strategy, business and technology needs and overall organizational impact. Effectively drive all design, delivery and testing work to ensure critical deadlines are met. Facilitate, escalate and ensure proper resolution to key issues that may jeopardize department effectiveness or project deliverables. Collaborate and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Participate in the annual budget and financial planning process for assigned organization, technical assets and related projects. Prioritize and plan technology product solutions within the annual investment budget. Quickly cut through ambiguity to accurately forecast project costs for the business. Collaborate with involved teams across the business and with vendor partners to effectively and accurately estimate amount of work and resulting cost associated with project deliverables.

  • Champion and provide input into the continual refinement of processes, policies and best practices to ensure the highest possible performance and availability of technologies. Lead teams to develop consistent technical build, implementation and support processes. Ensure projects are validated, adhere to defined standards/processes and that ongoing improvements align with IT Information Library (ITIL) principles and technology Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methods.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (4-years) in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 7-10+ years experience of increasing responsibility in the delivery and operations of technology products/services.

  • 3-5+ years of leadership experience, including demonstrated success in leading technical teams and executing technical projects within a quality management framework.

  • 2-3+ years of experience in successfully managing budgets (departmental and/or project).

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to deliver technical information to non-technical audiences.
