  • Wholesale Banking* provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

This role provides the opportunity to join a new centralized credit-oriented Control Team that will provide key oversight for specific credit activities across the Wholesale platform. The Control Team will be subject matter experts, assist with training to team members and conduct quality assurance reviews on key credit related activities.

The initial focus of the team will be around Higher-Risk Borrower (“HRB”) determinations. The Control Team will be the subject matter experts for the Bank on the implementation of HRB assessments. The team will assist with training, performing ongoing front line quality assurance reviews across the C&I portfolio and validating Credit Policy Exceptions (CPEs/UMVs/OTEs).

The * Credit Portfolio Consultant 4* will be assigned to complex commercial transactions. As a SME, the Credit Portfolio Consultant 4 will provide guidance to the Front Line Offices as they complete their HRB Assessments; perform quality assurance reviews on LOB submitted HRB assessments; respond to inquiries of Risk Asset Review and Loan Supervision; and provide HRB training to various LOB’s on a reoccurring basis.

30% Respond to inquiries by Front Line, Loan Supervision, RAR, and other Overseers on FDIC HRB Policy Requirement and completion of the HRB Template.

60% Reviewing the Document Package (HRB Assessment, Credit Approved Memorandums, Financial Statements, and Credit Agreements) in the sample to determine accuracy of the HRB disposition. Follow up with Front Line to address issues that surface during the review process.

10% Develop current and responsive guidance, training and policy updates as trends are revealed. Provide ongoing training calls as needed.

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of risk experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using business knowledge and critical thinking skills to deliver upstream and downstream project impacts

  • Commercial credit experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience managing projects in a large enterprise environment

  • Knowledge and understanding of underwriting or evaluating commercial credit

  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial credit: risk

  • Experience in financial statements, projections and financial modeling

  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial credit: underwriting
