As the Attendance Data Specialist in the Data Practices and Analytics division with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will support COMPASS, schools and districts with high quality, accurate, relevant and timely quantitative analyses related to attendance. Duties will include:

  • Manage, develop and implement measurement and reporting options for use of MDE data in data-informed decision making;

  • Develop processes for aligning data-informed decision-making options with policy initiatives in collaboration with COMPASS and local staff;

  • Provide consultation and data analysis on attendance research initiatives and program evaluation needs.

Minimum Qualifications

4 years of professional experience in data management, analysis or program evaluation

OR

A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in data management, analysis or program evaluation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Minnesota Tribal communities

  • Evidence of ability to collect and synthesize data about American Indian perspectives that honors cultures and histories

  • Experience working in or in collaboration with K-12 schools and districts on complex quantitative and qualitative evaluations of school-based interventions on student outcomes

  • Evidence of ability to analyze large data sets, create data visualizations, and write reports

  • Experience with data analysis software such as, but not limited to, SQL, R, STATA, Tableau, PowerBI, or others
