S&P Global Senior Solar Market Analyst in Mexico City, Mexico

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

09

About the Role:

S&P Global Commodity Insights is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our North America Solar PV team, which focuses on the solar demand and manufacturing landscapes in the United States and Canada. This role is interdisciplinary, meaning the analyst will be comfortable with multiple aspects of the job such as modeling, database entry, written analysis for reports and press requests, managing client relationships and inquiries, and presenting at external events.

The Team

The Solar PV team is housed within the wider Clean Energy Technology research group at S&P Global Commodity Insights, which covers a broad range of cleantech markets globally. The culture is therefore strongly collaborative, given highly globalized supply chains and cross-technology research opportunities. At the same time, the culture is also highly independent and self-driven due to the team's remote nature.

Responsibilities and Impact

  • Collect, manage and analyze market data to build solar PV demand forecasts for the United States and Canada.

  • Create high quality quantitative and quality market reports analyzing the status and outlook for the US solar industries.

  • Work with a large and global analyst team to co-ordinate viewpoints and align data and forecasts.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior members of companies involved in the solar industry to gather primary data and insights for research.

  • Write and distribute regular research notes that analyze latest policy, news and developments in the solar industry to both clients and press.

  • Support client requests by providing quick and comprehensive answers to questions about research findings. On-site and by phone presentations are regularly required.

  • Work with our global sales and marketing teams to promote our research, and support client renewals to ensure commercial targets are met.

  • Some occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

What We’re Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years experience in market analysis; directly related experience within the solar or energy storage industry is preferred, but not essential (if they have experience in the power industry such as wind, gas, etc.).

  • Knowledge of MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases highly preferred.

  • Good oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Organization skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Relevant University degree (Bachelors, with a preference for degrees such as Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Sustainability Studies, Mathematics, etc., but not essential).

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree highly desirable

  • Proficiency in Spanish
