Citigroup Real Time Monitoring and Automation – Telemetry Engineer in Mexico City, Mexico
The CitiBanamex Platform Engineering & Operations (PE&O) function is primarily accountable for accelerating the adoption of the next generation platform across Citi’s Consumer banking in Mexico, focusing on automating developer and delivery processes through the use of next generation technologies, DevOps tool suites, and cloud technologies (both private and public). This team will ultimately enable developer efficiency, deliver telemetry for improved decision-making and continuous improvement, and optimize application release and infrastructure deployments to deliver optimal speed/time to market at best in class cost while minimizing Citi risk. All while continuing to foster the adoption of a true DevOps culture of tight integration between development and operations teams, automation and continuous feedback and learning. A Telemetry Engineer plans, designs, develops and deploys telemetry solutions based on DevOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery methodologies. The Telemetry Engineer will work with other members of the GCT Application Development organization and, gather requirements, perform troubleshooting and provide assistance with the creation of Splunk search queries and dashboards as well as dashboards in AppDynamics. This position will be located in Mexico City KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with the stakeholders to identify requirements for telemetry solutions Perform data analysis, using various query, reporting methods and tools Create advanced searches, alerts, dashboards and visualizations in tools such as Splunk Develop\Update complex queries, alerts, reports and dashboards using Splunk's Search Processing Language (SPL) Develop\Update alerts and dashboards using AppDynamics Document telemetry patterns and update pattern library as required Implement, test, maintain and enhance telemetry solutions that provide the appropriate monitoring/measurement using best practices across the firm’s telemetry tools stack. Design, develop, validate and document telemetry solutions in order to fulfill GCG business needs Writes technical documentation such as User Guides and Tutorials, and delivers training to key stakeholders Tests the developed telemetry solution (unit and smoke test) and partners with key stakeholders to validate developed solution Act as a product owner of telemetry domain on a project, plan implementation roadmaps Trains end users of telemetry solutions Works in conjunction with the Automation Factory team to create self-healing solutions leveraging machine learning techniques EXPERIENCE MINIMUM: Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant experience 5+ years of experience in a senior Splunk engineering role 5+ years of scripting or software development experience using bash, python, chef or Ansible 5+ years of experience with large-scale financial systems architectures. 5+ years of experience with monitoring implementations and performance engineering Demonstrated ability to create complex dashboards, forms, and visualizations Understanding of System Log Files and other structured and non-structured data Medium-level Splunk Dashboarding, Index-time and Search-time data parsing Strong understanding of SPL as well as the ability to develop automated search and apps using Python or bash/perl/shell scripting Experience automating system tasks and infrastructure using a scripting language (Perl, Python and Bash preferred Good fundamentals on data modeling and machine learning algorithms Practical experience and good knowledge of DevOps culture, or Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery methodologies and best practices Experience working with adaptive planning techniques (aka Agile), understanding of MVP approach Professional communication skills, including business-stakeholder communications Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and capability to promote new ideas and products. Ability to write technical documentation such as User Guides and Tutorials in tools such as Confluence Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Accomplished individual with strong communication experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives and the ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions. Highly developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage, interact and influence stakeholders at all levels within an organization. Good command of both written and spoken Spanish (English also highly valued). PREFERRED: Experience in the adoption/use of an agile methodology and the transition from or co-existence with traditional SDLC methods and tools. Knowledge of corporate affairs, financial and economic fundamentals, and business policies, products, processes, systems and roles.
