Job Overview
This position facilitates and oversees activities of students in the Medical Radiography Program or Certificate programs in the classroom or who are assigned to their radiology facility. A variety of modalities including MRI, CT or Radiography, as appropriate, may be covered.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of approved School of Radiological Technology.
Certification granted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).
Radiological Technological license.
Three (3) years of clinical experience.
Two (2) years of experience in an educational role.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
In coordination with the Medical Radiography Program, serves as the classroom or in situ clinical instructor / preceptor / supervisor for students.
In cooperation and consultation with the Program Director and/or Program Clinical Coordinator, follows the Program’s Curriculum Plan as well as develops and implements the daily, weekly and semester class and clinical rotation schedules for students.
Following the Program’s established clinical curriculum, performs appropriate class evaluation and clinical competency performance assessments on assigned students and assures adequate availability of appropriate clinical cases for students to achieve stated clinical goals and objectives.
Organizes and implements department policy / procedure orientation sessions for assigned students and appropriate Program faculty.
Provides input to the Program Clinical Coordinator on the progress of all assigned students toward their achievement of their class or clinical performance goals and objectives and assists the Program Clinical Coordinator in filling out (for each assigned student) the Program’s Clinical Performance and Affective Domain Performance evaluation forms.
Oversees assigned student’s maintenance of their Clinical Activity Log sheets and provides Clinical Activity Summary data to the Program Clinical Coordinator.
Provides input to the Program Director and/or Program Clinical Coordinator on issues which may be useful in enhancing the student’s educational experience in class or at their site -and/or- in facilitating student success.
Provides academic advice for matriculating and prospective program students.
Participates in monthly Clinical Instructor faculty meetings.
Demonstrates the ability to organize patient care and set priorities, by providing critical care first and by implementing physicians’ orders
Coordinates and manages the in-service program for students and staff
Under the direction of the Director, acts as trainer and mentor for all new hires in the department.
Assists the Director with QA and safety concerns including overseeing retake analysis and other QI projects.
Acts as liaison between the Imaging Department and the SON/Medical Radiography Program.
May serve on the Program Advisory Committee.
