The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Sourcing Agent, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Providing Strategic Sourcing support to 3M Engineering and 3M divisions throughout the company, serving as the Sourcing category owner for various Capital Construction categories. This position is responsible for developing and executing effective Sourcing Strategy, driving differentiated value which meets or exceeds our internal partners’ expectations in the areas of: cost, quality, schedule. This position is responsible for leading supplier negotiations and managing complex supplier relationships. The employee works independently and consults more senior team members or supervision for assistance as needed.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Sourcing Sub-Category Leadership: Designs and executes plans to implement Sourcing solutions that will achieve measurable business results. Assembles and leads multiple project teams to implement effective sourcing solutions. Establishes close working relationship with 3M Engineering, 3M manufacturing sites, and suppliers on Sourcing Strategies and activities. Manages external suppliers to deliver improved benefits to 3M in areas such as: technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery, and cost (TQRDC). Researches and understands the short and long term market outlook for assigned sub categories of spend. Performs basic contract negotiations. Proactively communicates project direction and status with key country and/or 3M Engineering management. Recommends and influences management decisions in the area of sourcing solutions. Negotiates to resolve issues, implement strategies and ensure internal partner group satisfaction.
Sourcing Analysis and Design: Determines and implements solutions for multi-faceted situations regarding distribution of business, negotiation or category strategy, supplier management, and external sources of supply. Develops cause and effect analysis and documentation. Develops and recommends tactical and strategic solutions to 3M Engineering partners and management.
Sourcing Process Improvement : Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvements that improve service, speed or cost, through analysis of sourcing information and metrics. Minimizes the total project cost by leading cost reduction efforts and facilitating implementation of innovative sourcing best practices. Recognizes impacts on related processes and ensures communication of issues and proposed solutions to appropriate 3M Engineering and process owners.
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Five (5) combined years experience in: Sourcing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Management, Engineering (Construction), and Legal - in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Seven (7) years of Sourcing or Engineering (Capital Equipment) in a private, public, government or military environment
Strong negotiation and contracting experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience with SAP, PowerApps, Microsoft 365
Excellent teaming skills
Resolving complex issues that are time sensitive
Researching and understanding Capital Projects current market conditions and trends
Project management experience
Capital Projects Focused industry experience
Travel: May include up to 10% Domestic/International
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
