The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for this position will provide project and technical leadership for new product scale up, product qualification, process automation, equipment/process development and drive operational excellence including cost reduction and quality improvement for Food Safety Business supporting their USAC value streams.

As a Manufacturing Technology Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading or supporting cross-functional teams that support our USAC internal and external operations including safety, service, quality, and cost improvement projects.

  • Creating and managing documentation of change management for key projects and tasks, including Product and Process Understanding (PPU), Product and Process Experiments (PPE), Management of Change Requests (MOC), participating in quality investigations, CAPAs, CMR’s. and any other operational changes or tasks that need to be executed.

  • Implementing green belt cost savings projects and supply chain improvement projects.

  • Determining cost savings and supply chain improvement opportunities and helps prioritize within the product sub teams.

  • Supporting the Quality team in reducing customer complaints, improving the cost of poor quality, and help investigate and mitigate unexpected issues as they arise.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or equivalent Engineering (completed and verified prior to start), from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years of combined experience in food safety manufacturing and/or medical device manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Leadership, team lead, project lead, and/or supervisory experience

  • Previous experience working closely with suppliers and outsource manufacturers

  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification or equivalent

  • Cross-functional project team leadership and project management experience with track record of delivering on-time and within budget

  • Demonstrated use of skills and knowledge to solve problems of material, equipment, process and overall systems nature

  • Ability to apply analytical and statistical tools

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
