The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As Director, CyberSecurity Operations you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. This is a key role which will assist the Enterprise Chief Information Security Officer, 3M businesses and IT leadership to define security operational strategy. You will be tasked with Innovating and driving implementations of solutions to improve cybersecurity, and incorporate cybersecurity architecture patterns by design with global compliance-driven requirements. The ideal candidate is skilled across various information security domains and can contribute to the advancement of enterprise cybersecurity capability approaches. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing leadership and coordination in the planning, development, implementation, and operation of company-wide, integrated Cybersecurity operational capabilities and systems.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional global teams to continuously improve cybersecurity risk posture.

  • Executing and coordinating cybersecurity incident response activities.

  • Developing and delivering executive-level metric reporting on functional areas and performance improvements including benchmark against capability, risk, and maturity.

  • Executing tabletop exercises across diverse business areas and geographies to ensure operational readiness.

  • Developing and managing annual budget for the Security Operations organization and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses while leveraging third-party managed services as appropriate.

  • Overseeing the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluate performance, make personnel recommendations, and motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

  • Maintaining awareness of current industry best practices and forward-thinking techniques for applying new capabilities, technologies and automation.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Ten (10) years of Information Security leadership experience in a private, public, government, or military environment

  • Five (5) years leading a global information security team in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Industry Security certification(s) such as Certified Information Systems Security Profession (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA)

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques within the areas of cybersecurity.

  • Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies.

  • Develop technical proposals to evaluate emerging capability and/or technologies.

  • Strategic planning skills including the ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment within a globally complex organizational structure.

  • Knowledge and experience of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

  • Experience in financial management and the ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs.

Location: Maplewood, MN or remote US work location

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
