Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada’s oldest charities. For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Clerk, Guest Services to help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for ‘kids of all ages’ with sight loss, and their families!

Note that this position will reside at CNIB Lake Joe during the operational season from May to August and will share accommodations with other staff members.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Act as first point of contact to guests at Reception and Tuck Shop.

  • Support the arrivals and departures process for guests.

  • Inspect guestrooms prior to arrivals and ensure room standards are met.

  • Prepare guest information in accessible formats (i.e., digital, large print, Braille, etc.) as required.

  • Assist with orientation tours for guests and visitors.

  • Aid in handling guest enquiries and feedback. Resolve issues when possible. Document information for tracking purposes, pass along pressing information immediately to the Guest Experience Lead.

  • Support guests with application process; provide information about programs, complete registrations over the phone with guests.

  • Oversee and assist with the operation of the Tuck Shop; monitor inventory, restock, organize the retail area, and process transactions with guests.

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • Enrolled in a recognized Business Certificate Program, or equivalent job-related experience.

  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Administrative and operational experience an asset.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and communication.

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office and Office 365 including word processing and experience working in a database environment including queries.

  • Experience working in an office setting is an asset.

  • Experience using a POS (point of sale system), an asset.

  • Experience using SQUARE tools, an asset.

  • Knowledge of CampBrain software, an asset.

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Planning, organization, and time management skills.

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.

  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
