General Electric Lead Buying/Procurement Specialist in Lufkin, Texas

Role Summary:

This Lead Buyer role will demonstrate leadership in driving the business goals, Sourcing programs & processes for certain commodities on products related to the needs at Lufkin Power Transmission and Other locations as needed within the Turbomachinery & Process Solutions products and BHGE. In this role, you will use your experience and expertise to partner with suppliers and business leadership to develop and execute priorities in line with short-term and long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Lead Buyer you will:

  • Be the key site sourcing contact with facility leadership team

  • Manage PO allocation, supplier relationship, and fulfillment strategy in order to minimize delivery risks

  • Lead Supplier evaluations and implementation of improvements for certain commodities. Interface with the Services operations team, Project managers, engineering, planning and quality to gain clear understanding of product & project requirements

  • Use knowledge of forecast, prior history, supplier capacity, inventory goals and lead times in order to buy material in a timely manner at the lowest total cost for the business

  • Coordinate, help direct, as well as perform, all required functions from initiation of intent to purchase through to satisfactory delivery of material or services and supplier payment

  • Establish best cost supply base that can meet critical customer site schedule requirements with zero quality issues

  • Achieve established Sourcing & Business metrics

  • Promote culture of change management regarding processes simplification (automation of processes)

  • Initiate team priorities and drive to completion

  • Maintain supplier performance metrics Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and/or a high school degree/GED from an accredited institution along with 7 years of work experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain and/or Services

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain and/or Services Desired Characteristics:

  • Technical degree from an accredited college or university preferred

  • Related product experience

  • Ability to interpret drawings

  • Experience leading and developing a team

  • SAP and Tableau system experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Basic Excel knowledge)

  • Process Driven / GB Certified

  • Demonstrated GE and BHGE Values / Beliefs

  • Supplier negotiation experience

  • Demonstrated experience to work in a demanding schedule environment with frequently changing priorities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
