Position Summary:
The Cardiac Sonographer performs services in a Cardiology area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain current knowledge in areas of cardiac diagnostic testing including Cardiac Ultrasound, as well as in cardiac anatomy and physiology and cardiac disease.
Demonstrates a proficiency in the ability to perform quality exams, per protocols according to accreditation guidelines.
Demonstrate proficiency in stress echo following proper protocol
Demonstrates accuracy and completeness in preparing studies for interpretation.
Demonstrates understanding and use of sterilization procedures relating to use of TEE probe.
Demonstrates use and understanding of safe and proper transport and patient assistance techniques.
Maintains equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows infection control practices.
Maintains a good working knowledge of charging and billing process. Responsible for charging appropriately.
Qualifications:
Skills requirement; Patient care, computer, communication, multitasking, flexibility, and prioritization
Certification requirement; RDMS and BCLS
Echocardiography experience requirements; Echocardiogram stress testing, TEEs, contrast & bubble studies, quality assurance & improvement, ergonomics, and billing processes.
Education preferred; Continued education to meet IAC accreditation standards
Some weekends and holidays required
