Zekelman Industries Plant Finance Analyst in Long Beach, California

Western Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, seeks a Plant Finance Analyst for our facility located in Long Beach, CA. Reporting to the VP of Finance. This person will be responsible for the cost accounting and finance functions of the Long Beach plant. They will provide support to the operations group, through information analysis of production and cost variances and preparation of operations data/analyses for publication throughout the organization. Primary responsibilities will include assisting the operations team in monthly review, identification of areas for cost improvement, annual budget process, periodic forecasting, and operations analysis. Supports the Finance department as well as Plant Management and VP of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the manufactured direct costs are accurate and realistic by performing audits, investigative functions, and calculating overhead costs. In addition to leading work order variance reviews in conjunction with operations.

  • Participates and assists in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and internal management reporting for various departments (Quality, Environmental, Operations, etc).

  • Prepares monthly and quarterly forecasts for the manufacturing location in conjunction with the Plant Manager and VP of Operations

  • Prepares the annual budget for manufacturing operations in conjunction with the Plant Manager and VP of Operations

  • Assists the V.P. of Finance in ensuring that the Company maintains adequate internal control by discussing with the V.P. of Finance or Director of Accounting potential weaknesses and helping with implementing changes as needed.

  • Assists auditors by participating in the annual physical inventory test count and by providing necessary information.

  • Works with Company personnel in determining estimated costs and benefits for future products by providing required information.

  • Assists and provides analysis for capital and operational projects and performs ROI after installation

  • Responsible for special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 2+ years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP principles required.

  • Analytical and math skills.

  • Organizational, oral, and written communication skills.

  • PC software skills, including strong Excel skills.

  • SAP skills a plus

  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role

  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
