National Grid Deputy Director Commercial in London, United Kingdom

About Us

National Grid have established a new business unit, Strategic Infrastructure (SI), intended to be a world class project delivery organisation. It is expected that this organisation will receive more work overtime as the government makes decisions on the future grid infrastructure projects which are needed to deliver the transition to net zero.

In creating the ASTI regime, Ofgem also introduced a new separate ASTI licence for transmission operators, with conditions which prioritised on time delivery as well as efficiency and outputs. This new licence was enacted in August 2023, and requires a transformed approach to regulatory approval. There are still several aspects of the regulatory framework which have yet to be finalised but the core provisions – intended to create a strong incentive for progress over perfection - are already enabling the TOs to proceed at pace.
