LSEG Clean Analyst, Oil Research in London, United Kingdom

Refinitiv Oil Research and Forecasts is looking for a dynamic individual to join the team as an analyst to cover European refined products, working alongside our global oil analyst teams around the world to provide market leading research within the trading environment. Refinitiv Commodities Research is a team of more than 150 analysts committed to delivering insight and intelligence to the physical and futures markets. The successful candidate is expected to help in producing market leading research leveraging our proprietary vessel tracking and pricing information as well as utilize the huge range of data and information available in Eikon to create insight for our customers.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Researching and writing analytical reports on refined product market fundamentals, including a deep understanding of key drivers of supply, demand and their impact on prices and refining margins.

  • Support the development in improving the accuracy of our clean trade flows analytics, including model development, successful integration of multiple data sources and the creation and maintenance of benchmarking tools.

  • Maintaining and improving the accuracy of our proprietary European refined products swaps curves.

  • Develop and maintain core analytical and technical Eikon products and research reports.

  • Build a network of client contacts including traders and brokers to share information.

  • Communicate research findings in presentations and client calls.

Essential Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience in the research of oil or refined product markets from a trading and/or reporting perspective.

  • Demonstrated ability in the creation of analytical research content gained through consulting, journalism or as a market analyst.

  • Proficiency in the manipulation of large data sets to analyse and identify market trends as well as uncover model improvements to increase accuracy of data for clients.

  • Strong grounding in data analysis with experience in one or more environments for statistical and numerical modelling.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate those views clearly and concisely via regular reports to a professional audience

Desired Skills/Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of Refinitiv Oil research products would be desirable

  • Knowledge of Matlab (preferred) and/or R or Python

  • Knowledge of analytics visual tools like Power BI
