This position exists to support the facilities Management Office by managing the design and construction of projects for the Minnesota Army National Guard.

Minimum Qualifications

*Licensed Architect in the State of Minnesota -Or- Currently Licensed Architect with the ability to become a Licensed Architect in the State of Minnesota within 183 calendar days.

Knowledge of principles and practices of architecture sufficient to design, develop, and produce construction plans and schematics.

Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering sufficient to review projects and plans and advise on changes and modifications.

Ability to draw architectural plans and specifications sufficient to communicate architectural requirements to construction project management.

Knowledge and ability to review construction documents, to plan and prepare complete construction documents, and to prepare cost estimates, material lists, and schedules for projects.

Knowledge of current costs, construction principles, practices/methods, and materials. This position requires the ability to perform technical computations.

Communicate, both verbally and in writing, sufficient to present proposals, changes, and alterations to specifications and plans to individuals and groups.

This position requires the use of managerial abilities so assigned projects are completed in a timely and competent manner.

Skills in the use of CADD equipment and Revit software, RS Means (estimating software), calculators, and reproduction equipment.

Working knowledge of commercial maintenance activities including; HVAC components, electrical and plumbing systems, structural maintenance, fire prevention, building automation systems, and grounds maintenance activities.

Preferred Qualifications

LEED certification

Working knowledge of Military design criteria, regulations and procedures, with the ability to communicate, written and verbal, within the hierarchy of Military command and to be able to translate directives and functions to the consultants and contractors.

Working knowledge of ATFP design criteria.

A working knowledge of Military regulations & procedures with the ability to communicate within the hierarchy of Military Command.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
