National Grid Substation Control Design Assurance Engineer in Leeds, United Kingdom

You’ll join the National Grid’s Asset Engineering Assurance Control Team who are responsible for the implementation of highly technical operational technology systems for National Grid Electricity Transmission. We make happen the solutions that will enable a radically different Energy system and electricity network to meet the challenges of the future.

Your key outputs are to lead on the delivery of the specification, design, implementation and lifetime management of transmission network operational technology assets and the associated cyber security. Cultivate effective communication skills, including the ability to engage with multi-disciplined teams and audiences. Building and maintaining relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders.

Key Requirements

• Experience and knowledge on design, implementation, extension and lifetime management of Substation Control Systems.

• Experience working with Electricity Utilities (Electricity Generation, Transmission, Distribution), strong understanding of utility operational technology application procedures and a working knowledge of their test, design assurance, commissioning process and lifetime support.

• Understanding of communication protocols such as IEC61850 and IEC60870-5-101/104, including experience working in situations with sites communicating with a National or Regional Control Centres.

• Strong knowledge and understanding on L2/L3 Network architecture and cyber security requirements associated with Substation Control Systems.

Pay and Benefits

• Starting salary £56,372 to £65,000 pa + Excellent Benefits Package + Training and Development

• + Market supplement of £3,000 pa

• 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
