Canadian Tire Digital content marketing specialist, temporary in Laval, Quebec

What you’ll do

Under the supervision of the Marketing Manager – Content and Social Media, the position holder will actively contribute to the success of the marketing objectives of the Franchise division by overseeing the editorial direction of content and writing that will be used across all owned channels. This person will be responsible for expert content and implementing our brand blogs while participating in the creation and management of content dedicated to the Sports Experts and Atmosphere websites and social media. They will work closely with e-commerce, marketing commercialization, brand content teams, as well as with our various agencies, external partners, and freelancers.

Digital Content:

• Responsible for the publication calendar of brand and product blogs, booklets, technical guides, PLP page, as well as their implementation; planning, briefings, execution, validation, and delivery.

• Responsible for developing a pool of expert writers as needed, recommending external writers for projects, managing contracts and associated budget.

• Responsible for structuring the editorial aspect of campaigns according to target audience, consumer insights, and product focus. Initiates work sessions to develop the content ecosystem, develops briefs for writers, uses strategic judgment to recommend writings, and adapts campaign lines for all platforms. • Primary point of contact with the e-commerce team regarding long-form content and directional links for campaigns. Leads and participates in joint projects, analyzes results, makes strategic recommendations, and shares results with the larger marketing team.

• Responsible for designing content strategies and editorial angles that include product insights based on seasonal marketing briefs as well as SEO and traffic data from the e-commerce team.

• Develops post-mortems based on performance reports of blog initiatives and technical guides and presents analysis to improve customer understanding.

Social Media:

• Assists in creating and planning video and TikTok content (expert/tutorial angle).

• Helps plan the social media editorial calendar and handles weekly briefings; ongoing content for Facebook and Instagram platforms of both brands.

• Reviews and approves writings and visual content (posts/stories).

• Assists the co-op team during brand page updates related to our initiatives.

• Enhances various internal documents with visuals and social media projects for visibility among teams.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communication

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar position

  • Understanding of traditional, digital, and social media marketing channels

  • Bilingual, English and French (oral and written)

  • Possible occasional content creation on weekends

  • Good priority management and autonomy

  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, of various scales

  • Highly organized with strong writing skills

  • Enjoys teamwork and easily establishes good interpersonal relationships

  • Navigates well within a matrix work structure and demonstrates operational agility in a retail context

  • Regularly uses digital platforms, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and other social networks in daily life

  • Strong interest in fashion and knowledge of sports, training, as well as physical and outdoor activities
