National Grid Transmission Line Services Mechanic C in Lancaster, New York

About the Position : We are presently seeking to fill a TLS LM C position at our Lancaster location, with a starting pay rate of $46.44/Hr. Under direct supervision in line construction and maintenance on electric transmission circuits at 115kV or above to patrol and inspect transmission lines for faulty operation; assist line workers of higher grade in the various line associated tasks including working on energized circuits

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have three years’ experience as a Transmission Line Worker Apprentice or Equivalent. And good knowledge of Company transmission line practices and standards.

  • Once hired, ability to successfully complete Clearance and Control training and will be listed on the qualified Clearance and Control authorized list

  • Must have ability to attend and successfully complete Transmission Hot Stick school

  • Should have the ability to progress to Live Line Bare Hand Specialist

  • Must pass the validated TLS Physical Abilities Evaluation

  • Must pass the validated aptitude test

  • Must possess a NYS CDL Class B license

  • Must obtain NYS CDL Class A license with metal coil endorsement within 6 months of becoming eligible

  • Climbing Certificate and/or Lineman School Certificate is preferred

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED

  • Must have a Valid drivers license

Salary:

  • $96k-$124k/Yearly

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
