Pfizer R&D Senior Finance Associate in Lake Forest, Illinois

Role Summary

The Senior Finance Associate position is responsible for supporting the broader FP&A team with the consolidation and analytics of the financial information - actuals, budgets, forecasts - across the Pfizer Research & Development (PRD) and Pfizer Oncology Division (POD) organizations; this consolidated view of spend across portfolio categories and Partner Lines ultimately enables senior leader decision-making.

Within the FP&A team, this position will also provide finance support to and routinely interact with various internal stakeholders across R&D Finance, primarily related to Partner Lines' compensation expenses, as well as assist with the centralized headcount/compensation forecasting processes.

Finally, the Senior Finance Associate will serve as a finance business partner to one of the PRD subgroups ($60M budget), responsible for OpEx budget and forecast management, as well as reporting and analytics.

Role Responsibilities

This position supports the FP&A team as well as the broader R&D Finance organization across several main areas. Key activities may include:

General FP&A

  • Assisting with the creation and/or consolidation of budgets, forecasts and reporting that is timely, reliable, focused and relevant for decision making

  • Monitoring and proactively reporting business performance

  • Coordinating information from various sources across the PRD and POD organizations to prepare budgets, forecasts and reporting

  • Providing ad-hoc reports and preparing financial projections/analyses; identifying trends/opportunities and recommendations for action

  • Supporting ad-hoc R&D finance projects, in partnership with Finance Managers/Senior Managers and Finance Leads

  • Assisting with the month-end close process, including monthly accruals

  • Ensuring compliance with all fiduciary responsibilities and finance policies

  • Participating in simplification/automation initiatives and driving other financial process improvements to support the changing needs of the organization

Compensation Forecasting

  • Partnering with Finance Managers for the various R&D lines to ensure timely sharing of information that enables high-quality forecasting and reporting. Due to the size and complexity of the Partner Lines, this position plays a key role in reporting and analytical support across these businesses.

  • Support the Compensation Model centralized process as needed; partner with Finance Managers to ensure the most accurate information is captured and budgeted/forecasted appropriately

Business Partnering

  • Lead and coordinate budget and forecast processes with business partner(s) to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of forecast and budget submissions

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to manage budgets within authorized targets, support decision making and drive efficiency savings

  • Prepare financial projections/analyses; identify trends/opportunities and proactively make recommendations for action to manage the budget and optimize resource allocation

  • Manage month-end close process, including booking of monthly accruals

  • Monitor and proactively report business performance

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting/Finance or related degree preferred

  • 3 years of finance experience required

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and PowerPoint) skills

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and reporting and analysis for a global organization

  • Knowledge of accounting and prior experience in monthly financial close activities

Work Location Assignment: Flexible

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $78,000.00 to $130,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
