We are currently looking for a Mechanical Operative to join our operations team, undertaking Mechanical maintenance, inspection and repair of the various Mechanical equipment onsite. As this role is covers the Kings Lynn area you won’t be based out of a site so travel and some overnight stays will be essential!
As an Operative you will:
Ensure that emergency, security, safety, operational and environmental plans and procedures are understood, including the onsite and offsite emergency plans. Provide support during planned and emergency situations in accordance with the on and off site emergency plans, monitoring and control of site security operations, and participation in duty standby rota and occasionally shift working arrangements.
Proactively support the Operations team in wider initiatives and workload to ensure the overall business objectives are met.
Carry out Safe Control of Operations roles for which you are competent and authorised to undertake including Competent Person for low risk activities and Working Party Member for more complex tasks.
Deliver maintenance tasks on schedule and to the appropriate standards in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
Work with the Operations Technicians to ensure that the inspection requirements of pressure systems (PSSR) are delivered.
Support the Operations Supervisor to ensure that the high-pressure pipeline system is protected, including the monitoring of third party work, aerial sighting response, cathodic protection monitoring, support of the in-line inspection programme and line-walking surveys.
Ensure all tasks are carried out safely and in accordance with National Grid procedures.

You will be the ‘go to person’ for all things Mechanical, so we are looking for someone who has a background within utilities and has proven mechanical experience. You’ll be joining a committed and dynamic team so having both the ambition and knowledge to drive excellence within this customer focused environment is key!
Knowledge & Experience Required
Understanding of the equipment associated with the operation and maintenance of the National Transmission System.
Understanding of the Safe Control of Operations procedures and Authorised as Competent Person within SCO/91 for low risk work types and able to undertake role of Working Party Member supporting the Competent Person.
Assessed competent against Safety & Technical Competency Framework for role
Ability to work without direct supervision including lone working, using training, maintenance manuals and work orders to complete maintenance to Operations requirements.

A competitive salary between £29,082-34,214– dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
