About This Job

The incumbent will be responsible for daily accounting activities on Mortgage Servicing transactions. loans owned by Commerce Bank and serviced for outside investors. In addition, responsibilities involve performing investor reporting and reconciliation functions pertaining to FNMA, FHLMC, and GNMA.

Essential Functions

  • Carry out all functions necessary to comply with all investor reporting requirements

  • Perform daily and monthly general ledger and DDA reconciliations for Mortgage Servicing transactions and for bank and investors

  • Monitor/perform loan transfers, and balance loans in Held-for-Sale investor

  • Monitor processing of reject payments, payoffs and monitor lock box performance

  • Assist in set-up of new investors and bank accounts

  • Monitor outstanding disbursement checks

  • Initiate/monitor outgoing wires for various servicing functions

  • Research and resolve complex balancing and reporting discrepancies

  • Stay abreast of loan servicing platform functionality and interrelationship accounting

  • Assist with annual investor re-certifications

  • Assist in training of servicing staff in accounting related items/issues

  • Assist in other servicing functions as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Strong accounting skills

  • Strong proficiency in Excel

  • Strong knowledge of investor accounting and reconciliation processes and requirements

  • Strong knowledge of general accounting functions

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good understanding of servicing functions

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required

  • 3-5 years accounting experience required
