Being a Software Engineer III on the Data & Integration team is both rewarding and challenging. The team provides products & services that have a direct impact on both our clients and Cerner associates. Our work is non-routine, complex, and involves solving problems at an enterprise level. As a senior engineer in this team, you are expected to play an active in driving Cerner’s first enterprise API Manager platform and providing Application Integration architectures.
As a Software Engineer III, you will analyze, design, code, debug, test and modify new software or enhancements while considering software abilities. In this role you will, create strategic technical designs for small scope projects within the team and provide high-level architecture guidance and develop specifications to resolve software problems. Your responsibilities also include consulting with stakeholders on current functionality and complexity of adding features along with estimating effort for current and future projects of small to medium scope. As a Software Engineer III you will, debug complicated issues that span multiple modules. As a part of this role, you are also required to propose and lead process improvements projects for development, deployment or application monitoring.

At least 6 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:
At least 1 year software engineering work experience
At least 5 years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education, including:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
Strong experience with Java, Microservices, API Management, Spring/Spring Boot, Git
Experience in any cloud technologies (Azure, VMWare Tanzu are preferred)
Expertise in version control and source code management, Git preferably
Experience in CI/CD and experience in automating pipelines, preferably in Concourse
Proficient with SQL/NoSQL databases
Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
Experience of driving at least one large scale projects technically
Deep knowledge of object-oriented concepts and design patterns
Experience with agile development methodologies (scrum, slim, lean, etc.)
Experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers in the team
Perform other responsibilities as assigned
