SMB Account Manager

What you'll do... :

Job Brief:

We are looking for an Account Manager to create long-term, trusting relationships with our Small Business clients. The Account Manager’s role is to oversee a portfolio of assigned bookkeeping and payroll clients and develop new business from existing clients.

Job Summary:

Account Managers are the business partner and accounting department for our Small Businesses. They help Small Businesses succeed as a trusted advisor. Responsibilities include oversight of entire client acquisition process, development of strong relationships with Small Business clients, partner with fulfillment teams, and delivery of results. Account Managers will answer client queries and identify new business opportunities among existing clients. In this role, Account Managers are the liaise between Small Business clients and all functional internal teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all assigned bookkeeping and payroll clients

  • Oversee entire client acquisition process from client referral to platform onboard, ensuring a great client experience and supporting the client throughout the process

  • Responsible for outreach and follow up of client referrals to maximize conversion to service

  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements to meet client’s needs and meet growth targets

  • Assist client onboarding onto platforms and virtual tools

  • Develop and maintain trusting and long-lasting advisor relationships with clients

  • Communicate bookkeeping and/or payroll results on behalf of the client with tax professionals who prepare the small business tax returns

  • Resourcefulness. You’ll be building something new. Proactively leveraging available resources and knowing when to ask for help

It would be even better if you also had... :

  • Experience with CRM, Xero, Small Business Services, Client Service

  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Sales or relevant field

  • Bookkeeping, Payroll, or Accounting certification or experience

  • CPA certification preferred

  • Basic tax knowledge

  • Proven work experience as an Account Manager, Sales Account Manager, or other relevant role

What you'll bring to the team... :

Qualification and Skills

  • Account management experience

  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience and theory knowledge

  • Ability to anticipate customers’ needs and match them with appropriate products and services

  • Comfort with working under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with CRM or Workflow management software (e.g. Salesforce or other)

  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent listening, negotiation and presentation ability as work is completed remotely with clients across the country
