Hallmark’s Global Visual Merchandising Studio is a strategic and dedicated studio made up of graphic and production designers, visual merchandisers, fixture and environmental designers, and writers. We create environmental signage, wayfinding, and fixture solutions for retailers including Hallmark Gold Crown, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and grocery, around the globe. We deliver a shopping experience that is easy to shop, showcases innovation, and is unmistakably, recognizably Hallmark.
We are looking for a top-notch Production Designer who can leverage their design capabilities and technical knowhow to bring the Hallmark brand to life on a big scale.
MORE ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Production Designer – Visual Merchandising is a combination Production Artist and Designer role. The PD develops merchandising signing solutions by integrating creative elements such as editorial, illustration, photography, processes, writing, typography, and hand lettering in ways that meet the brand merchandising strategy. Upon completion of the creative execution phase, the PD is also accountable for completing and/or coordinating the completion of pre-press activities, color reproduction requirements, and template development for packability to ensure accurate and efficient assembly of final deliverables.
In some cases, the Production Designer may be requested to produce some design elements themselves (illustration, repainting, 3D rendering, typography design, etc.). The PD must consider procedural guidelines across a variety of print processes and sign formats to ensure accurate and complete digital and physical deliverables are released from the Creative Team.
It is essential for the PD to have a both strong aesthetic and decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills in order to make effective and timely layout/design decisions. The ability to work autonomously but also collaboratively is critical to the success of this role.
The following is required to be considered for this role:
Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of professional work experience
Minimum 2 years of graphic design, production art, or production design experience
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Experience with apple scripting, java scripting, and/or color management
Your resume and portfolio/application will stand out if you have:
Strong sense of design, layout, color, and aesthetic judgment coupled with a strong understanding of the consumer and marketplace.
Strong digital skills with the capability to use creative and pre-press software applications in concert to achieve the desired outcome.
Thorough understanding of internal digital workflows.
Strong communication/collaboration skills, both written and verbal.
Flexible, open to feedback.
Strong organizational skills/ ability to effectively manage multiple tasks. Project leadership or project management is a plus.
Proven record of being highly productive and precise. Possesses a sense of urgency to hit deadlines.
