Overview

The Nurse Coordinator will work with the Enteral Access Team. The role is 4, ten hour days per week, for a 1.0 FTE.

Manages and develops programs and services for the care of gastrostomy tubes, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Coordinates and supervises the care of these patients in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Provides direct patient care and serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.

  • Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the health care team.

  • Meets the educational needs of patient/family, utilizing principles of teaching/learning.

  • Management and development of program and services.

  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and 3-5 years pediatric clinical experience working with patients who require a feeding tube as an RN or RD

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their new hire date. and 3-5 years pediatric clinical experience working with patients who require a feeding tube as an RN or RD

  • Master's Degree Preferred

  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire

  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire

  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO

  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
