The Department Administrator - Pathology, Radiology & Maternal Fetal Medicine is responsible for providing direction, planning services, managing resources, and continuously improving the non-clinical services, collaborating with the clinical services, coordinating all non-clinical processes and support of the faculty academic programs provided by the Departments of Pathology, Radiology, and Maternal Fetal Medicine. Assures high quality, safe, cost-efficient, timely support services are delivered to meet faculty, and other professionals needs in a service excellence manner.

Provide senior level multi-departmental leadership in all aspects of planning, strategy and administration. For each department there is ultimate responsibility to/for:

a. All operational activities including the development of new programs

b. All non faculty employees including the Department Directors

c. Professional advancement and strategic direction for all faculty, residents and fellows

d. Annual revenue and expense budget

e. Financial reporting and dashboards

f. Goal setting and leadership to achieve the goals

g. Be the liaison between each department and all areas of the CM

h. Create new program(s) which ensure CM remains a leader in provisioning health care to children.

In partnership with the Department of Pediatrics Associate Chair, this position has responsibility to provide expectations, leadership, training, resource systems and accountability for establishing department faculty engagement and communication opportunities. Additionally will provide support for the development of infrastructure and initiatives, including processes and systems that support faculty engagement in the Department of Pediatrics. Also serves as a key liaison between faculty and staff in the Department of Pediatrics and assigned division. Department Administrator provides direction as well as formal organizational accountability for directors and other non-physician staff in accordance with the policies of the hospital and medical staff. This includes the overall planning, design, coordination, direction and budgetary management of services.

  • Master's Degree and 5-7 years experience in a leadership position within an academic health-care setting.

  • Advanced skills, experience, and expert breadth of knowledge in health care management, human resources leadership, finance, research and project management are necessary for this position.

  • Ability to oversee and direct multiple divisions within an academic health-care setting is essential.

  • Progressive leadership and management demonstrated in previous work history.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $50.28/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work on-site at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
