Federal Reserve System Communications Analyst in Kansas City, Missouri

The analyst position provides a wide range of communications and web site

support. The individual will serve on a communications team that works to improve the quality, consistency and timeliness of communications to System end users and technical staff as well as providing a System web site focused on user self-service for IT support. The individual will also provide analytical and project support for the unit/department as well as leading or participating on System projects related to communications.

Key Activities -

  • Reviews/edits notices to service partners and end users to ensure these notices conform to selected styles and are effectively communicated to the appropriate audience. Works with service partners to clarify language as needed and distribute in a timely manner.

  • Provide 24/7 support for major incident management communications.

  • Assists in creating communications plans for large projects or releases and drafting communications as needed.

  • Drafts/distributes user communications during an outage as requested by the incident coordinators, following appropriate incident management processes, including review and update of the communications toolkit.

  • Ensures notices are distributed to the appropriate audiences through the appropriate distribution method; maintain distribution lists for mobile device users and update other lists as needed.

  • Assists in the ongoing maintenance of the communications distribution tool, including coordinating business requirements for requested enhancements, testing enhancements, coordinating user access to the tool, and providing training as needed.

  • Performs routine maintenance and administration of web sites , including, but not limited to, adding/formatting new content, updating content, and performing navigation usability and style conformity reviews.

  • Works with metrics staff to understand top call drivers that could be mitigated through self-service channels on the web site.

  • Provides support for information owners and content providers by troubleshooting issues and communicating best practices.

  • Tracks communication and web site metrics on a monthly basis for reporting to management.

  • Manages or conducts projects related to department operational improvements or procedure/policy review and update.

  • Develops recommendations and makes presentations to management and department staff. Trains others on new procedures/policies.

  • Monitors status, identifies trends, and prepares reports on quality measures, performance metrics, or other department goals and objectives.

  • Designs management information reports, tools, and systems.

  • Leads or completes ad-hoc projects and/or assignments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience. Specialty in journalism, communications, English, or a related field is preferred.

  • Typically requires at least 3 years of relevant experience.

  • 1-2 years of technical writing and/or editing experience is preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills in programs including, but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Internet and email programs.

  • Knowledge of html and various web and design tools preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, editing, customer relationship, and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic communications plans.

  • Project management skills to include organization, planning and execution.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Customer service orientation.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment. In higher grades, team leadership.

  • Position may include additional requirements unique to the individual department or division.

  • Provide 24/7 support for major incident management communications.
