Job Description

The Accounting Manager oversee the general accounting function for assigned segments of the business, ensuring work is completed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensures that proper controls exist over these activities. The Accounting Manager supervises the work of assigned supervisors/senior/staff accountants, planning work to ensure timely and accurate completion. Manager responsible for coaching and developing staff to promote department commitment to financial integrity and expanded financial analysis to support internal controls and business decisions. Manager is a working position that has responsibility for higher risk accounts and may perform related journal entries and reconciliations personally. Manager reviews the work of staff, including journal entries, account reconciliations, budget and trend analysis, and internal control documentation. Manager may provide input into the annual budget preparation, financial improvement initiatives, financial forecasts, information system implementations, and other special projects. Reports to the Controller.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience

  • CPA Preferred

  • Proficiency with analyzing large populations of data in Excel, including design and use of pivot tables, data filtering, vlookup, and use of other Excel functions required

  • Intermediate knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting practices and theories

  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis required

  • Experience in developing and/or evaluating process mapping, workflow design, and control activities required

  • Ability to effectively direct, supervise, and assess performance of accounting staff

  • This position will require mathematical and analytical skills, accuracy and precision, organizational skills, willingness to follow recommended procedures, honesty, patience, good written and oral communication skills, good people skills, good management skills, and ability to be a team player

  • High proficiency in Excel

  • Software Application Skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
