Citizens Tabletop Exercise (TTX) and Incident Response Program Manager in Johnston, Rhode Island

Description

The Tabletop (TTX) Exercise and Incident Response Lead is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and leading tabletop exercises designed to evaluate and improve the preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities of the Bank.

In this role, you will guide participants through simulated scenarios, ensuring a productive and educational experience while identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement and will also be responsible for assisting with incident response for nontechnical incidents, inclusive of alerting via Everbridge when required and coordinating enterprise-wide mass notification exercises (maximum twice annually).

Primary responsibilities include these major buckets of work:

  • TTX Planning and Design:

  • Collaborating with Bank stakeholders to define exercise objectives, scope, and desired outcomes. TTX scope will range from small (Tech/Bronze level participants) to large (Silver/Gold).

  • Developing realistic and relevant scenarios tailored to the Bank’s needs, including potential injects and decision points.

  • Creating detailed exercise plans, scripts, and supporting materials, including maps, communication tools, and participant guides.

  • TTX Facilitation:

  • Leading tabletop exercises, guiding participants through the scenario while ensuring active participation and engagement.

  • Presenting scenario developments and injecting in a clear, concise, and timely manner.

  • Encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving among participants, prompting discussions and decisions in line with the exercise objectives.

  • Managing time effectively, ensuring all key elements of the exercise are covered within the allotted timeframe.

  • TTX Evaluation and Feedback:

  • Monitoring participant interactions and decision-making processes during the exercise.

  • Collaborating with evaluators to document performance, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and gathering lessons learned.

  • Facilitating post-exercise debriefs (hot wash) to capture initial feedback from participants.

  • Contributing to the development of After-Action Reports (AARs) that summarize findings, recommendations, and areas for improvement.

  • TTX Training and Development:

  • Assisting in the development and delivery of training programs that support TTX objectives and addressing identified gaps.

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to participants, helping them improve their crisis management skills.

  • Staying up-to-date with best practices in exercise design, facilitation, and emergency management.

  • TTX Stakeholder Engagement – Internal and External:

  • Working closely with various departments and external partners to ensure alignment and coordination before, during, and after exercises. This will include participation in external exercises as appropriate.

  • Presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Incident Response:

  • Acting as point of contact for nontechnical incidents, providing updates to senior management and coordinating the incident response, engaging with relevant stakeholders as necessary. This will be a collaborative effort with the business continuity, physical security, facilities and EIM teams – depending on the nature of the incident.

  • Alerting via Everbridge as necessary.

  • Coordinating enterprise-wide mass notification exercises (maximum twice annually). This will be a collaborative effort with human resources and communications.

  • Managing escalation ensuring that unresolved incidents are promptly escalated to the appropriate management.

  • Coordinating an effort to identify critical existing and missing playbooks and working with enterprise architects to determine on and off network storage.

    Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in incident management, crisis response, business continuity, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in planning, facilitating, and evaluating tabletop exercises or similar training events.

  • In-depth knowledge of incident response and crisis management.

  • Familiarity with various types of risks and hazards relevant to the Bank’s operations.

  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with all levels of the Bank.

  • Analytical skills to assess exercise outcomes and identify key areas for improvement.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Willingness to travel to support exercises at different locations, if required.

  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the scheduling needs of exercises.

    Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Business Continuity, or a related field.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Emergency Manager, Certified Business Continuity Professional) are preferred.

    Hours & Work Schedule

    Hours per Week: 40

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM

    Pay Transparency

    The salary range for this position is $123,660 - $206,100 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
