Citizens Sr Reporting and Analysis Analyst in Johnston, Rhode Island


Consumer Accounting’s focus is the management of accounting related information while closely adhering to operational risk guidelines, and the timely and accurate preparation/delivery of financial reporting. You will play a key role in supporting these functions through the delivery of high quality data analysis and take responsibility for the production of a wide variety of data structures, reporting and automation. The incumbent will also play a key role in working directly with Consumer business lines (specifically Credit Card and Merchant Lending) to implement accounting for new lending products and understand product data analysis and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing existing programs and formulating logic for new systems, devising logic procedures, preparing flowcharting, performing coding and test or debugs programs.

  • Assist and coach team members in the optimum management of data and use of the SAS programming language.

  • Designing, developing, modifying, supporting, debugging and evaluating SAS programs.

  • Leading Consumer Accounting aspects of projects, corporate initiatives, acquisitions/sales of loan portfolios, and process efficiency efforts.

  • Coordinating project planning and completion activities, and providing status updates.

  • Designing and building automation solutions using SAS and SQL programming code.

  • Gathering and documenting coding requirements.

  • Evaluating and reviewing code to identify opportunities for consolidation or improvement.

  • Preparing and obtaining the approval of system and programming documentation.

  • Recommending changes in development, maintenance and system standards.

    Using SAS and SQL code as the primary tools for automation solutions, data extraction, manipulation and storage.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years advanced data analysis and coding experience in Financial Services using industry software.

  • 5+ years of work experience programming with SAS Base and SQL.

  • Project management and business analyst experience

  • Ability to easily pivot, manage multiple priorities, and function efficiently in a high-volume/fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to facilitate business requirements from various stakeholders.

  • Ability to support others through cross-training and peer-coaching.

  • General curiosity to explore and understand data.

  • Positive customer service orientation and delivery.

  • Solid written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.

    Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced experience with MS Access and Excel, particularly macros and visual basic code a plus.

  • Experience with analytical tools such as SAS EG, SQL Developer, Oracle OBI, Tableau, Alteryx very helpful

  • Knowledge of loan accounting principles and practices very helpful.

  • Experience with Oracle Essbase data aggregation and retrieval

  • Solid proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.

    Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or related technical field required. Relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

    SAS programming certifications a plus.

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: M-F 8-5
