Citizens Regulatory Relations Exam Manager in Johnston, Rhode Island

Description

The Regulatory Relations Exam Manager, coordinates and manages examinations and other regulatory reviews to foster a positive regulatory culture and promote proactive interaction with regulatory agencies. As part of this process, timely escalation and resolution of emerging risks and issues, along with transparent communications with the regulatory agencies promotes positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinating and facilitating regulatory examinations, ongoing supervision and other regulatory inquiries. This includes compiling documentation for regulatory requests both before and during field work and ensuring that the material is properly reviewed by Bank stakeholders. It also requires preparing the Bank for transaction testing requests and meetings between the Bank and regulators during field work. It also includes the taking of notes during Bank and Agency meetings, uploading exam documentation and providing status updates to GRC, the Bank’s system of record as well as arranging for building and system access.

Ensuring that Bank stakeholders understand what is required of them for various exam requests and following up with the regulatory agency if needed for clarification

Leading the Examination Preparation team in pre-examination readiness exercises such as Review Panels to identify any control gaps or weaknesses, potential issues and potential emerging risks for escalation to Regulatory Relations and Executive Management

Ensuring documentation provided to the regulatory agency is responsive to agency requests and challenging responses when necessary if the documentation does not seem to meet the needs of the request,

Preparing colleagues for regulatory interactions during examinations, on-going supervision and other regulatory inquiries; and,

Managing the relationship with the Examiner in Charge and his or her team so that their expectations are met for the review and

Acting as an Early Warning System for the Bank by escalating potential gaps and concerns to the appropriate Regulatory Relationship Manager.

Maintaining exam records

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

Experience in regulatory compliance activities, or equivalent work experience managing complex processes regarding legal or regulatory matters (such as litigation, project management, risk management or audit)

Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical topics in concise terms that non-technicians can fully understand

Ability to research and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Knowledge and experience associated with Bank products

Proficiency in Office applications including Power Point and Excel

Strong presentation and leadership skills

Excellent organization skills

Education:

Bachelors Degree Required

Advanced Degree and/or certification (e.g. MBA, JD)

Hours & Work Schedule:

Hours per Week: 40+

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (At least 1 day in a Citizens office. More days may be required for managing onsite portions, typically first and last week of an exam/review.)
