UMB Distribution Services, LLC (UMBDS) is a subsidiary of UMB Fund Services, Inc. as well as an SEC registered broker dealer and member of FINRA. The Distribution Services Compliance team supports Distribution efforts of certain Fund Services clients by performing the principal review of sales and marketing material as well as general compliance monitoring. This team is critical to our client’s success and provides a service to ensures all regulatory and firm requirements are met. In doing so it allows our clients to avoid potential risk and focus on growing their business.

The Distribution Compliance Specialist II role is the main point of contact for several clients and is responsible for reviewing sales and marketing communications, administering registered representative registrations, and performing certain compliance monitoring activities including email surveillance, branch examinations, and written inspection reports. This role will work closely with certain UMB investment management clients on initial training and annual compliance meetings for in-house registered reps performing primarily wholesale activities on behalf of these client. The role will also take part in continually evaluating compliance policies’ effectiveness on an ongoing basis and making recommendations as needed. As you grow your skill set at UMB, you will have the opportunity to support an increased number of clients and focus on more complex compliance tasks.

Working in the Distribution Services Compliance team can be impactful, challenging, collaborative, and independent. The team is spread out nation-wide and therefore each specialist is required to work independently to support individual client needs. This role is a 100% remote opportunity, but the team communicates regularly and focuses on a team culture of collaboration and partnership. There is always a partner ready to help. The Distribution Services team is also part of the overall Fund Services team and will interact regularly with other teams and departments within UMB on a regular basis.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • You will serve as the primary point of contact with investment management clients of UMBDS for sales and marketing communications compliance principal review and approval. This will primarily entail providing ongoing advice as to regulatory requirements and provide advice as it relates to compliance with various FINRA Advertising and Sales Literature and other communications related Rules.

  • You will perform compliance monitoring activities including email and social media surveillance, branch examinations, and writing inspection reports.

  • Operating various FINRA systems such as Web CRD to register reps, amend filings, and perform other processes related to client support. You will also be able to effectively file marketing material with FINRA on an as required basis, including follow-up with clients as to changes.

  • Effectively handling compliance questions and client requests, concerns and problems in a professional manner, including a proficient knowledge of applicable rules and regulations (SEC, FINRA, state laws, etc.) used in registered representative oversight, email and advertising review.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • You have a minimum of five (5) years of registered investment company or financial services related experience

  • You have a minimum two (2) years of experience as a registered principal in the following areas: Email surveillance, Marketing materials review, Maintaining a registered representative compliance supervision program

  • You have a solid understanding of investment management product distribution channels and marketing strategies used to distribute mutual funds, ETFs, interval/tender offer funds and private funds.

  • You have at a minimum your FINRA Series 6, 26, and 63 at time of hire. FINRA Series 7 & 24 licensure would be preferred and would supersede the 6 & 26 registration requirement.

The pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is based in Colorado is typically $60,795 to $112,875 annually. The selected candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, including but not limited to work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay for the selected candidate may be above or below this range. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in one or more incentive plans based on company and individual performance.
