Tufts Medicine Clinical Psychologist, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Boston, MA in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts

Tufts Medical Center is seeking an Adult Clinical Psychologist in Inpatient Services at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts to provide a range of behavioral health services to patients with serious persistent mental illness on the Metro Boston Mental Health Units at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. This position comes with an academic appointment in the Tufts University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry at a rank to be determined by qualifications.

How you will impact patient care:

  • Provide, design and directly implement individual behavioral interventions, risk assessments, group treatment, individual relapse prevention plans and individual treatment, as well as psychological testing.

  • Provide forensic risk assessments including assessments of violence, suicide risk assessments, substance abuse assessments, fire setting risk assessment and participate in mentally ill problematic sexual behavior assessments.

  • Be a part of the multi-disciplinary in-patient treatment team including Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Rehabilitation Staff, Occupation Therapists, Nurses and Mental Health Workers.

  • Provide supervision to doctoral level psychology students.

Who you are:

  • PHD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology.

  • Clinical Psychologist License in Massachusetts.

  • Experience with a forensic population is preferred as is experience and expertise with trauma informed, recovery-oriented treatment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Why Lemuel Shattuck Hospital:

The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH) is a Department of Mental Health/Department of Public Health hospital. There are five inpatient secured units housing roughly 19 patients each. The population of LSH is largely forensic as many patients are admitted to LSH as a ‘step down’ from Bridgewwater State Hospital (BSH). Many patients are admitted to LSH for restoration of competency, to determine whether competency can be restored, and for treatment, rehabilitation and discharge to the community
