Division/Department Information The Department of Economics and Finance in the Tobin College of Business at St. John's University is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in fall 2023. This position will be a one-year contract position, that may be renewable. Approximately 3,000 students are enrolled in the Tobin College of Business - 2,400 undergraduates and 600 graduate students. Together they represent 36 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and 75 foreign countries. The Tobin College of Business has AACSB accreditation. It also supports the undergraduate business core, graduate business programs and undergraduate and graduate programs in various liberal arts disciplines, including the recently launched five-year MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Ability to work in a department that includes mainstream and heterodox economists is necessary. For more information on the Department of Economics and Finance visit: https://www.stjohns.edu/resources/places/economics-and-finance Responsibilities The position entails a four-course teaching load per semester, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; candidates can expect to teach in person, with the possibility of online and hybrid courses. Excellence in teaching and an ongoing research/publication record are essential. There is a 4-4 teaching load. Candidates who can contribute to the University's Vincentian Mission are particularly encouraged to apply. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD in Economics or a related field or have become ABD in a PhD in Economics within the last three years. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach Macro and Micro principles, as well as courses: poverty and inequality; and economic history. Ability to teach a diverse student body is essential. In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual/hourly salary range for this position is $85,000 - $90,000.
