State of Minnesota Customer Svcs Specialist in Itasca State Park, Minnesota

Job Summary Job Summary The position provides information to the public and performs sales work at Itasca State Park. Responsibilities include: Greet and provide general information to visitors/customers. *Assist customers in selection of merchandise. *Enter sales on computerized cash register. *Count and reconcile daily receipts and complete proper forms. *Price, mark and stock merchandise. *Assist with display of merchandise. *Assist in physical inventory of merchandise. *Perform housekeeping duties in the store (i.e. clean shelves and cases, sweep floors, vacuum carpet, etc.) Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Positions are located at Itasca State Park near Park Rapids, Minnesota and are part time seasonal with anticipated season dates of May 26 to October 24. Hours of work and days off will vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. * Customer service skills sufficient to provide information and assistance to the public and other employees in a courteous manner * Communication skills sufficient to respond appropriately to questions from the public and other staff effectively and courteously. * Math skills sufficient to handle sales transactions, provide accurate change to customers, and count and reconcile daily revenue receipts * Knowledge of point of sale software sufficient to process merchandise sales * Knowledge of safety and accident prevention measures sufficient to identify safety hazards, make necessary repairs, and/or alert appropriate personnel * Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. * Organizational and interpersonal skills sufficient to work as a productive member of a team * Conflict resolution/human relation skills sufficient to negotiate, resolve issues, read situations and settle disputes equitably by finding common ground and cooperation. Preferred Qualifications * One year of retail sales experience. * Visual merchandising skills sufficient to create effective retail displays to maximize ability to sell merchandise and capture customer interest. * Knowledge of park rules, policies, facilities and other local points of interest * First Aid and CPR training. Physical Requirements Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
