Position Summary

CVS Health, a Fortune 6 company, is seeking an experienced strategic marketing communications manager for our Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) division. Working from home, the manager will join a team of marketing communications professionals and business strategists who work together to manage a pipeline of new PBM business opportunities and client consultative engagements. The manager will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing results-driven marketing campaigns for Medicare health plan clients, with a focus on search engine marketing. This role will manage internal and client resources and budget to achieve desired return on investment (ROI).

The manager will develop and manage client relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to counsel clients on marketing solutions to help grow their membership and drive desired member behaviors. This role will manage and collaborate with external creative teams, agencies and vendors to generate research and programs that will help inform and support client goals.

Essential functions:

  • Marketing strategies: Develop and manage marketing communications strategies to achieve PBM and client objectives while meeting government regulations.

  • Digital marketing: Develop and manage paid search and display ad campaigns and email retargeting, ensuring they stay within budget. Manage client website domains, including copywriting and annual updates as required by client and/or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

  • Analysis: Define key targets and quality metrics for marketing communications initiatives, and track, measure and analyze marketing results to ensure positive ROI

  • Produce deliverables: Create presentation materials that clearly communicate business story and key takeaways, and present insights and recommendations directly to health plan client executives and internal partners.

  • Subject matter expert (SME): Serve as a SME for clients and internal partners. This includes staying abreast of digital marketing industry trends, and how they may affect the PBM and our clients

Skill requirements:

  • Professional experience in marketing communications role

  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and video

  • Experience managing, implementing and measuring SEM (paid search and display) strategies, including budgeting, copywriting and applying lessons learned

  • Experience managing and consulting on website strategies and best practices

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, sales, digital, IT, regulatory, etc.) to produce effective strategies and obtain final approval on all marketing campaigns

  • Ability to create and deliver presentations that communicate effectively to executive level constituents

  • Team-oriented attitude and approach to getting work done within budget and on time, as well as the ability to manage expectations of individuals in cross-functional environment

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented in a process-driven environment

  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity, motivated to keep moving forward and find new ways to solve challenging and complex business issues

  • Ability to multitask and work in a complex and fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing processes and timelines

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and Adobe Analytics

  • Ability to position communications at both the strategic and tactical levels

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in digital marketing/SEM

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health plan marketing experience, particularly in Medicare and/or government markets, highly desired

  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS

  • Relevant industry experience for a large, matrixed organization


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, public relations or relevant discipline or equivalent experience required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$54,300.00 - $117,000.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
