The PMO Supervisor will provide leadership to Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and/or Scrum Masters and is responsible for all portfolio and project management activities for data and technology projects, including project leadership, project planning, project execution, project control, and
The PMO Supervisor role is an empowered leader who must drive results and proactively identify and resolve problems. The position requires a strong leader who can partner effectively with all levels of the Global IT Function, Business Units, Corporate Functions and external parties. The position will require strong expertise in project delivery processes (PDP) and experience managing teams consisting of internal and external team members. The position will report into the NA PMO Manager and also have close alignment with the Enterprise PMO team for process governance.
Additional accountabilities include:
Ensuring continuous improvement and communication of PMO practices, process and tools across Solution Delivery
Establish, maintain, enhance and champion project management methodology, including Agile delivery, standards, and procedures for assigned team based on PMO direction
In depth finance portfolio understanding and ownership, which results in advising our business partners
30% Project/Product Leadership:
Leads strategic vision to a team of project managers, scrum masters and project coordinators utilizing full knowledge of portfolio management and general business/technical acumen.
Guides periodic project/product reviews conducted by direct report project managers or scrum masters utilizing thorough knowledge of the project/product delivery process.
Identifies, recommends and implements project/product management best practices based on expert knowledge of project/product management.
Provides direct supervision, mentorship, coaching and development for a team of project managers.
20% Project Planning:
Coaches project managers in the definition of project objectives and scope utilizing expert knowledge of project management practices and procedures.
Coaches project managers in the development of the Integrated Project Plan for projects with up to high cost and risk.
Coaches Scrum Masters on roadmaking a value based planning
20% Project Execution:
Leads project managers in the execution of projects with high cost and risk
Leads project managers/scrum masters in usage of the project management framework to achieve project objectives of delivered on time, on budget and business results are realized for projects up to high cost and risk.
10% Project Control:
Monitors project progress on portfolio of projects to identify variances from the plan and make needed corrections for projects with high cost and risk.
Mentors project managers in resolution of issues within their project that do not require Project Sponsor attention.
10% Business Results:
Accountable for ensuring that Project Sponsors and stakeholders receive routine status and active communication of issues and risks.
Confirms successful project implementations and benefit capture for all projects in the portfolio
Confirms successful completion of all project/product phases and closure of all aspects of the project portfolio
10% People Management:
Responsible for the people management in area of responsibility including recruiting, retention, development and engagement of team.
Manages and provides coaching to direct reports, including coaching Cargill Guiding Principles.
Manages resources and creates plans for workforce needs
Bachelor’s degree in IT or Business related field OR equivalent work experience
7 or more years relevant business or IT leadership experience in solution and service delivery roles
5 or more years’ experience successfully leading teams to high performance including developing, coaching and motivating employees
Demonstrated leadership in portfolio, demand management and project management processes.
In-depth knowledge of Project Management methodology, PM tools and processes, including Agile frameworks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
Proven and demonstrated conflict management, influencing, negotiation and consulting skills Strategic thinking/problem solving
Comfortable with ambiguity, active inquiry skills
Relationship building at all levels and cross-function/platform
Agile certification (Scrum Master, Product Owner etc.)
Knowledge and experience with ERP and related applications.
Successfully managing IT projects being implemented/rolled-out over a large number of locations.
Proven track record of anticipating emerging issues, problem solving and implementing new solutions, including improving efficiency, quality, cost and productivity
