National Grid Senior Plant Accounting Clerk in Hicksville, New York
Job Purpose
Job Duties: Under direction, perform duties in connection with the department’s clerical and administrative functions such as receiving and responding to e-mail, maintaining files, preparing journal entries, processing various work order progression requests, and miscellaneous use of personal computer programs and functions (i.e. PowerPlan, Maximo, STORMS, Excel, Sharepoint Online, etc.)
In the fixed assets booking system/Powerplan, record related capital additions and retirements into the system. Correct capital addition and retirement processing errors in the system. Create and upload spreadsheets into Journals. To the extent required/requested, support billing, internal/external audit departments, and other teams by providing required/requested records, uploaded journals, and files with required support/documentation for audit, billing, and other purposes.
Place assets in service and close work orders. Upon request from the field/Work Order Management, enter the necessary dates and required information (utility accounts, retirement units, quantity, location, etc.) to place assets in service (start depreciation) and/or close work orders when all services have been performed and all goods have been received. In some cases, create the necessary Asbuilts based on estimates and pre-determined Plant criteria already selected by Operations mentioned above (i.e. RU, Utility account, quantity, location, etc.) for additions and retirements
Key Accountabilities
Make recommendations to eliminate manual work which improves controls and enhances productivity of the group which results in better performance for the business unit clients and eliminates back-logs. Test system changes and/or proposed enhancements which impact plant accounting records. Assist other plant accounting team members with researching certain issues within the system(s). Assist other plant accounting members with questions as requested. Perform similar or less skilled work.
Use the Plant Accounting Clerical Enhancement (PACE) system in Sharepoint Online for the day to day receipt and processing of work order lifecycle progression requests. Query the system for those requests assigned to them, communicate status and requests for additional information and/or clarification when necessary, process the requested action(s), and complete the request.
Qualifications
APPLICANTS WHO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED:
KNOWLEDGE & TRAINING: High School graduate or equivalent. Must have completed college level Accounting I, Accounting II, Intermediate Accounting I, and Intermediate Accounting II. If the applicant is an internal candidate, they must have demonstrated satisfactory performance in their current role and currently not be on probation or an improvement plan. Must have strong working knowledge of Excel. Powerplan experience a plus.
NOTE: In addition to possessing the qualifications for this vacancy, employees selected will be expected to work overtime in accordance with departmental requirements and to participate in the Company’s Emergency Restoration Program as may be required.

Pay Rate: $34.58 an hour
