Job Purpose
This Lead Analyst position provides a unique opportunity to learn about the role of gas in the near term and in the future, as we transition our business to net zero, and to design the programs needed to deliver the clean energy transition. You will interact with multiple groups across National Grid including executive leadership and provide critical insights and potential solutions to achieve National Grid’s, New York’s, and Massachusetts’ ambitious climate goals.
The Lead Analyst will provide analytical, process, and decision-making support for the US Gas Business. This role will focus on managing project management tasks, ensuring efficient and effective planning and execution of gas demand forecasting, gas capacity need identification, and optioneering across gas supply/network infrastructure/demand-side solutions. Key deliverables of the role include the NY Gas Long-Term Plan and the Massachusetts Climate Compliance Plan.
Key Accountabilities
Project Management: Lead and manage the end-to-end gas scenario planning process, coordinating multiple functions (demand forecasting, gas capacity need identification, optioneering across gas supply/network investments/demand-side solutions).
Analysis and Evaluation: Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of long-term gas capacity solutions across multiple criteria, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
Implementation Tracking: Track the implementation of gas capacity solution portfolios and lead contingency analysis to adjust portfolios for changing circumstances.
Performance Metrics: Define and track KPIs, key risk indicators, and dashboard metrics for US gas supply and capacity, providing clear and actionable insights for leadership.
Governance and Decision Support: Staff governance committees and provide senior leadership with decision support, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Continuous Improvement: Use strategic perspective and problem-solving skills to test internal thinking and drive continuous improvement in processes and outcomes.
Regulatory Support: Develop internal and external evaluations of gas capacity needs and options, leading cross-functional teams to deliver, present, and defend findings in regulatory proceedings before the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities and New York Department of Public Service, as well as stakeholder engagements.
Collaboration: Coordinate input from subject matter experts into relevant regulatory filings and processes, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
3-5 years of related work experience. Bachelor’s, master’s or advanced degree is a plus.
Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word, and advanced Excel formulas. Proficiency with project management tools such as SmartSheet is essential.
Experience in project management, especially working with cross-functional teams on large scale projects in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrates a willingness to learn from others, acknowledges mistakes, and values team success over individual recognition.

Possesses strong interpersonal skills, understands team dynamics, and effectively navigates complex relationships and situations.

$133,000 - $156,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
