Position Title: Driver – Mechanic/Auto Body Repair School/Division: Plant Operations Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Description: Reporting to the Associate Director of Physical Plant, the Driver will support Hofstra University with auto body repairs and auto mechanic duties. Must be available for overtime during campus emergencies and snow removal activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Transportation of moving and handling boxes, furniture, mail materials, office supplies, and other related items. Replaces damaged body parts, including bumpers, fenders, hoods, and trims. Patches dents and fixes other car body damages. Prepares and paints vehicle surfaces. Fits, attaches, and welds replacement parts into place. Performs preventative maintenance of University vehicle fleet (e.g. checking fluids, oil changes, filter changes, inspecting and repairing brakes, etc.) Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Valid New York State driver's license and CDL license or permit required. At least seven years of auto body repair experience. Working knowledge of forklifts and various personnel lifts. Knowledgeable in snow plowing and snow removal activities. Able to learn the operation of various equipment (e.g. pay loaders, back hoes, tractors, landscaping equipment, bob cats, etc.) Availability during snow emergencies and to support the University when overtime is offered.
