Position Title: Dissector (Part-Time) School/Division: School of Medicine Full Time/Part Time: Part-Time Description: Reporting to the Anatomist and Co-Course Director, the Dissector will assist with the dissection and extraction of the vagus nerve and its branches from human cadavers for research purposes. This is a part-time, hourly position funded by an NIH grant. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs cadaveric dissection of full-length human vagus nerves and vagal branches in adult donor bodies. Assists in the development of dissection strategies. Assists in the planning and procurement of cadaveric specimens. Takes photographic and video documentation of dissection process. Takes anatomical measurements of pertinent branch points relative to extra-vagal anatomical landmarks. Produces data documentation. Participates in lab group meetings. Assists in preparation and cleanup of dissection sessions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: MS, MD/DO, or PhD with minimum three years' dissection and/or surgical experience required. Technical expertise in donor body dissection. Strong oral and written communication skills needed. Must demonstrate superior organizational skills, attention to detail and adaptive work style. Ability to approach challenges with creativity, innovation, and a positive attitude. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
