Position Title: Director of Career and Professional Development School/Division: School of Law Office: School of Law, Career Services Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Description: Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Career Services, the Director of Career and Professional Development advises students on matters relating to internships, fellowships, career goals, and employment opportunities. Evening and weekend hours will be occasionally required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides general career and professional development coaching, including student preparation for legal employment. Reviews and edits students' resume and cover letter. Identifies employment opportunities in the private and public sectors for students and alumni. Prepares resource materials for students regarding career related topics. Participates in career fairs for employers to recruit Hofstra students. Organizes career, professional development, and job-search related programs for students. Develops and maintains close working relationships with public and private sector employers. The position will require attendance at events on Long Island and in New York City and evening hours are occasionally required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: J.D. degree required. Minimum of three years practicing law. Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger student services team. Attention to detail is critical in the review of students' documents. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Possess strong presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: Legal coaching or career marketing experience preferred. Advanced technological skills, to include social media platforms.
