BCAA Senior Claims Adjuster in *Head Office, Canada

We are currently hiring a Senior Claims Adjuster to join our Claims team!

This is a hybrid role based on our Burnaby, BC (British Columbia) Head Office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our 4567 Canada Way office and/or are not looking to relocate to BC will not be considered for this position.  

As a Senior Claims Adjuster you're responsibility is to handle Property and Casualty Insurance Claims (homeowners, recreational vehicle, travel accident benefits) primarily by telephone and also in person as required, and determine if coverage is available for a loss within the insuring agreement to settle or deny the claim. Your role is crucial to ensure policyholders receive prompt assistance while helping them navigate the claims process smoothly and efficiently with homeowner claims, recreational vehicle, and travel accident benefits.

During a typical day, you will:

  • Maintain a professional relationship with the insurer primarily over the telephone.

  • Attends certain on-site claim loss locations as required, access to a vehicle is required.

  • Investigate the legitimacy of the claim, interview and take statements from policyholders, claimants and witnesses.

  • Reviews information including, but not limited to, estimates, photos and/or videos of property damage, proof of ownership, hospital records, and other pertinent information required to fully substantiate the claim.

  • Negotiate a fair and cost effective settlement with the insures, claimants or claimant’s legal representative either directly or through the services of retained counsel.

What you’ll bring:

  • Post-secondary diploma in business or related courses, programs, licenses (insurance related) and/or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years in a claims environment.

  • Valid BC Driver’s License with a clean driving record

  • Bonus Qualifications:

  • CIP designation

  • Second language

The salary range for this position is $ 64,265.76   to $ 80,332.08    and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.
