Position Summary

CVS Health Digital is looking for a dynamic and driven Staff Engineer, Digital Engineering to assist Backend engineering teams tasked with creating best in class experiences focused on identifying, prioritizing and shaping complex enterprise initiatives in partnership with business stakeholders. In this role, you will be working closely with multiple engineering teams to successfully deploy our digital products focused on helping people live healthier lives, to production. You will use your partnership skills to collaborate with engineering teams and enterprise change management teams, and drive the flawless deployments to production. You should have the ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly, have a consistent track record of delivery and excellent software engineering and people management skills. A successful candidate will be a highly motivated, collaborative individual; motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. This role is based in one of the CVS office locations in Hartford, CT.

In this role, you will review production deployment tickets, install & backout plans, telemetry setups, and oversee each aspect of the deployment process, and act as the liaison between engineering teams and enterprise change management

• Provide leadership for Production stability and resiliency initiatives.

• Collaborate with various areas of the organization including business partners, product owners, architecture, security mavens, digital and technology teams• Provide ongoing monitoring and support to change installs.• Improve DevOps processes and push for Automation as much as possible• Review install plans and code changes to ensure developers have built a scalable solution with at most quality• Promote proper implementation of SAFe process techniques• Provide support in all phases of SDLC and ensure to high-quality products go to production.

• Ability to work with multiple scrum teams• Make informed decisions quickly and taking ownership of services and applications at scale• Ability to understand big picture, while implementing at the detail level• Analytical thinking – able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts explore and evaluate them systematically• Strategic thinking – able to identify a vision along with the plans, which need to be implemented to meet the end goal, evaluating situations, decisions and issues in the short, medium and long term• Assist in technical and security audits and ensure audit recommendations are implemented• Be an advocate of security best practices, champion and support the importance of security within engineering, partnering with Digital and Enterprise security teams and digital product owners to ensure compliance• Encourage a collaborative, open and dynamic team culture where individuals and teams can realize their full potential

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall Technology/Digital development experience on assisting enterprise class backend applications to support member facing web and mobile applications.

• 4+ years of experience in a release management role, leading software deployments which requires working with FTEs and onshore/nearshore/offshore consultants.

• 3+ years of experience in implementing products built using java and/or NodeJs, and managing observability tools.

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps/CICD processes.

• 3+ years of experience in technical project management and leading complex implementations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in SAFe Agile work environments; certification of SAFe for leaders would be a plus• Experience in handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; thrives working in a highly iterative, agile, and open team environment

• Good understanding and working experience in enterprise security best practices, Oauth & OIDC standards, JWT and SSO frameworks• Experience in working with medium to large sized teams of diverse development engineers across multiple locations

• Experience in partnering with architecture, product and program management teams to influence product development assisting or improving products

Education

Bachelor degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience(HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$124,372.50 - $247,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
